He remembered those painful times, shivering at the thought.
Pearl felt even sorrier for him. "It's alright, Chet. No one here will hurt you." Hearing this, Chester felt a mix of relief and sadness. "Thank you, Miss Pearl." He buried his face in her arms, vowing silently never to reveal that he knew the truth about their earlier conversation. He didn't want to upset Pearl, especially because she was so nice to him.
"By the way, I heard you're planning to take Chet abroad?" Richard smoothly changed the subject.
"Yes, I might need to travel more for work. I don't want to leave Chet here alone, so he'll cwith me." Chester's eyes lit up at this news. "Yeah, Dad promised to takeabroad to see kangaroos! I've never been abroad. I want to see the world." Then his excitement dipped. "It's too bad Miss Pearl can't come. I was hoping to explore with her." Sean chuckled. "She's pregnant. She can't join you just yet." Chester's eyes widened. "A baby?"
He walked over to Pearl and gently poked her belly, curious but cautious. Then, he stepped back afraid he might scare the baby or be too rough.
