"I'll be going now." Arnold stood up, said goodbye to Ethan, and left.
When he left the villa and felt the mountain breeze, he finally felt a bit better. He took out the number that Ethan
gave, hesitated a moment, then dialed it.
At 3 p.m., Arnold met Andy at the foot of the mountain. Marcus and Jeremy were also with him.
Arnold was shocked to see Jeremy. "Aren't you supposed to be dead?"
Jeremy said, "Ethan saved me."
Arnold's eyes widened. "He saved you?" At that moment, he thought back to the truth that Ethan said. If Ethan
truly were a vile criminal, why would he save Jeremy? How would he have the means to save Jeremy?
Arnold forced himself to calm down. "Did Ethan recommend you to join Andy as well?"
Jeremy shook his head. "He never interfered with my choices. | decided everything myself."
Arnold wavered. Could it be that Ethan was not guilty after all?
Just then, Andy asked, "What's your story?"
Arnold recounted the events of the previous day and about Ethan recommending him to Andy.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtUpon learning that Arnold's team had been wiped out, the others felt sympathy for him, especially Marcus. He
was also an elite soldier who had witnessed the deaths of his teammates in the past.
Jeremy quickly snapped out of his thoughts and said, "No, your team must have been set up. Someone leaked
your location!" He knew very well that there was something wrong with Nolan.
"You mean, there's a traitor?" Arnold was shocked. "And that traitor is someone who knows my team's
movements?"
Jeremy nodded. "Don't forget how | supposedly died."
Arnold's expression grew solemn. He had only thought that their location was exposed, not that someone
deliberately leaked their movements to the enemy. Then, he recalled that they counterattacked and defeated
the enemy but failed to find Jared. It was clear that he had been tipped off and fled beforehand.
"Do you know who the traitor is?" Arnold asked urgently.
Jeremy shook his head. "I forgot, but you should ask Stephen about this. This operation was under his command.
He already knows that there's a mole, yet he still let something like this happen.”
Arnold gritted his teeth. "I'll go back and ask him now."
He took out his phone to book a flight, intending to return immediately. After buying the ticket, he saw a
notification regarding Stephen's speech on last night's operation.
"Our team faced fierce resistance in this operation and suffered slosses, but we ultimately emerged
victorious..."
Arnold finished watching and realized Stephen announced that only one team was involved in the operation. His
teammates’ sacrifices were due to heavy resistance from the enemy, and there was no mention of the South
Regent or the villagers' help. The success was completely credited to his own command!
Arnold's expression darkened. It was a complete distortion of the truth! He returned to Hill City that night itself
and immediately went to find Stephen.
Stephen had been working the whole day and barely had any rest the previous day. He was already exhausted
and went to bed early.
When the assistant heard that Arnold wanted to meet Stephen, he blocked the latter and told him to cback
tomorrow.
"I have to meet him now!" Arnold had

too many questions. Why did
Stephen distort the truth? What
about his fallen comrades and their
families? What had Stephen been doing during the operation? Why had the mole not been caught yet?
Seeing Arnold causing a commotion, the assistant quickly called for security to
restrain him.
