Chapter 149

Izzy's face burned as she stormed into her office, her heels clicking against the floor with sharp precision. The

sheer frustration coursing through her made it impossible to sit still. She started pacing, her arms crossed tightly

over her chest as she tried to process what had just happened.

Anna followed behind, hesitating near the door before carefully placing a cold bottle of water on Izzy's desk.

“Miss... are you alright?”

Izzy barely heard her. The moment she had walked out of the CEO's office, her mind had been spinning,

replaying the conversation that had unfolded just minutes ago.

She could still hear Calen’s sharp and condescending voice.

“You think you should be the one leading this project?” Calen scoffed, leaning forward in his chair. “You've done a

few successful deals under Weiss Inc., and now you believe you're sbig shot?”

Izzy's fingers curled into fists at her sides. “I never thought that.”

“Calen enough...” CEO Weiss tried to intervened but Calen didn’t stop. Instead, he let out a sharp breath,

shaking his head.

“This is my company,” Calen said. “My family’s company. | am going to inherit Weiss Inc. one day, and yet here

you are, acting like you have the right to stand above me.”

Izzy's jaw clenched. “That's not what this is about.” She forced herself to keep her voice steady. “I worked hard

for this project. It was my proposal. | built it from the ground up. It’s only right that | see it through to

completion.”

Calen’s expression darkened. “You built it?” He let out a short laugh, one laced with disbelief. “You worked on it

under Weiss Inc. Everything you've done was possible because of this company. And yet, you act like it belongs

to you?”

Izzy stared at him, unable to believe what she was hearing.

Calen stood abruptly, pushing his chair back with enough force that it nearly hit the wall. “No matter what you

do, Izzy, you are still under me. Do you understand that? You act like you're on equal footing, but you're not. You

never were.”

Her fingers tightened against the fabric of her blazer. “That's not how | see it.”

“Of course, you don’t,” Calen muttered. “Because you're arrogant enough to think that being good at your job is

enough.” He shook his head. “You're not the future of this company-I am.”

Izzy forced herself to take a deep breath, to not let him get to her. “Then prove it,” she said, meeting his gaze. “If

you're so convinced that you deserve this position, prove that you can handle it.”

Calen’s hands clenched at his sides. His expression twisted, revealing something that Izzy hadn't expected-

resentment.

“This is exactly what | mean,” he said, his voice sharp. “You look down ontoo much.”

Izzy frowned. “What?”

Calen scoffed. “You think you're smarter than me, don’t you? You always have.”

She didn’t answer.

Because he wasn’t entirely wrong.

Calen stepped closer, his voice lower now. “Despite being, an heiress of the Rossi Group, you know nothing about

it. You're useless when it comes to that company. And yet, you chere and act like you're better than me?”

He exhaled sharply. “If you were so capable, why aren’t you over there proving it?”

“Enough,” Renard’s voice cut through the tension, his exhaustion finally showing. He rubbed his temples before

looking at Izzy. “Take a breather, Isabella. Go cool your head before this conversation goes further than it

should.”

Izzy clenched her jaw, her nails pressing into her palms, but she didn’t argue.

She turned on her heel and walked out.

The memory still burned as she stood in her office now, her hands gripping the edge of her desk.

“Miss Rossi?” Anna's voice pulled her back. “Are you alright?”

Izzy blinked, shaking off the thoughts that threatened to drag her back.

Anna hesitated before speaking again. “You don’t look too well. Should | prepare the car? You can go hand

rest.”

Izzy exhaled slowly, then reached for the water bottle on the desk. She twisted off the cap and took a sip before

shaking her head. “No. Not yet.”

She was about to drink from the bottle when the door suddenly opened. Calen strode inside.

“What are you doing here?” Izzy asked, frowning.

“I need everything that you have on the project,” Calen said coolly as he regarded her. “And | mean...

everything.”

Izzy's face darkened. “I am going to give it to Anna tomorrow and-"

“| can wait.” Calen strode toward the couch and made himself comfortable. “You already know what's going on

inside Weiss Inc. | can’t handle any more delays. So, it’s best if we make the process as smooth as possible-so

we can do the transition without affecting the ones working under Weiss Inc.”

Izzy gritted her teeth, forcing her expression to remain neutral. “I'll take care of it now.”

Calen snorted, already unlocking his phone, his attention shifting away as if the conversation was no longer

worth his focus. Izzy bit her lower lip, the anger in her chest tightening into something heavier. Crying wasn't an

option-not now, not in front of him. She had spent years proving herself, working tirelessly, only to be treated

like this.

Calen’s words had struck deeper than she wanted to admit.

She was a Rossi. She was born into a family that owned one of the most powerful corporations in the country.

And yet, here she was, breaking her back for a company that didn’t even value her. She had been content here-

comfortable, even. But that needed to change.

It was tto start thinking about herself.

After what felt like forever, she finished organizing the files. She placed a USB drive on the table along with a

neatly stacked pile of documents.

“That's everything I've been working on,” she said, stepping back. “You have all the files you need. I'm leaving

now.”

Calen barely glanced at the USB before speaking. “Where are you going?”

Izzy checked the ton her watch. “It’s late. I'm going home.”

Calen leaned back, tilting his head slightly. “Who told you that you could just leave?”

Izzy froze, turning back to him. “What?”

“There are still things that need to be done for the project,” Calen smirked. “You don’t think you can just walk

away in the middle of everything, do you?”

Izzy stared at him in disbelief. “Are you serious?”

Calen shrugged. “I'm the one in charge now. That means you report to me. Show srespect.”

Izzy took a deep breath, steadying herself. She clenched her hands into fists, but when she spoke, her tone was

steady. “And what exactly do you wantto do, Vice President Weiss?”

Calen tapped a finger against his knee, considering her. “For starters, | want you to prepare a detailed transition

report. Since you're so invested in this project, | assyou wouldn't want anything to be overlooked.”

Izzy nodded slowly. “Fine. I'll have it ready by tomorrow.”

“Tonight.”

Her jaw clenched.

Calen smirked. “If you want to leave, finish your work first.”

This time, 1zzy gave a slow, sinister smile. “And if | say no?” she asked.
