Chapter 123
“I can no longer reach her,” Monica said as she paced inside the room.

Two days had passed since she was served, and yet there had been no response from Cecil or Calen. She had
waited, expecting Cecil to step in, to offer skind of help, but nothing had come. Now, as she scrolled
through her phone, her frustration only grew.
“She blocked me,” Monica muttered, staring at the screen. She pressed the call button again, but the line didn’t
even ring. “I can’t reach her. | can’t reach her secretary either.”
Amalia, lounging on the couch, frowned. “That's ridiculous. What about Calen?”
Monica's grip on her phone tightened. “Blocked,” she admitted. Luckily, Samantha was there to help them out
and even let them stay in her condo unit.
Samantha, sitting at the kitchen counter, tapped away at her laptop. “So they just dumped you,” she said, not
even looking up. “I guess it was expected. They're in a mess of their own right now. Maybe they're just trying to
lay low. Rich people do that all the time, you know?”
Monica sat down, rubbing her temples. “I don’t know... The company must already be in chaos. There were
already problems inside the Weiss family before all of this.” Her friends from the company told her about some
arguments. Sadly, they don’t know anything more than that.
Amalia crossed her arms. “And yet, you're the one dealing with the lawsuit while they sit back and pretend they
don’t know you.”
Samantha finally looked up from her laptop. “Don’t stress too much about it,” she said. “We have almost twenty
thousand in donations now.” She turned the screen toward them, showing the growing number on their Fund for
a Cause page. “That's more than enough for a lawyer.” She leaned back, stretching her arms. “Plus, I'm willing to
help out, so we're fine.”
Monica sighed. She wasn’t sure if “fine” was the right word.
Samantha closed her laptop and stood. “We should go live again,” she said. “Call out Calen for ignoring you.
Make sure people see that you're the victim here.”
Monica immediately shook her head. “No. This isn’t Calen’s fault.”

Samantha scoffed. “He blocked you. His mother blocked you. That says enough.”
Monica exhaled slowly. “I don’t want to drag him into this mess.”
Samantha frowned. “But he’s part of it-"
“I said no,” Monica cut in, her grip tightening around her phone. She stared at the screen, still unable to process
what was happening. Cecil had abandoned her.
The realization sank in like a slow poison.
Cecil was the one who convinced her to do that livestream. She was the one who fed her the lines, made sure
the story spread, and assured her that everything would be handled. Monica had played her part perfectly. And
for that, she was paid. The check had already cleared. But that was just it, wasn't it?
The deal was done.

Monica had expected more-loyalty, maybe, or at least continued support. But the moment she beca
liability, Cecil Weiss cut her loose like she was nothing.
Her jaw clenched. She felt anger simmer beneath the surface, but mixed with it was something else-curiosity.

Cecil's goal was simple: she wanted the company to fire Izzy. Did that mean she had already won? Had she
achieved her goal and decided Monica was no longer useful?
Or worse...
Did something go wrong?
Was that why Cecil suddenly vanished-because she had bigger problems to deal with?
Monica's fingers hovered over her phone screen. She wanted answers. But no matter how many times she tried
to call, the result was the same. Blocked.
She had been used and discarded. Again.
Samantha sighed, but inwardly, she wasn’t worried. This was just a temporary setback. If anything, she was
excited.
Izzy would have to silence them eventually. That meant money.
Samantha smirked to herself. It was only a matter of tbefore 1zzy’s lawyer made an offer, and she couldn't
wait to hear how much they were willing to pay.
“Right, | already called a friend who knows a good lawyer,” Samantha said. “The donations are still coming in, so
we don’t have to stress about the payment. | already sent a down payment, and we're scheduled to meet with
him this afternoon. Since you're not feeling great, we can just have the meeting here.”
She tapped on her phone, checking her messages. “Once we go over everything with the lawyer, we can file a
response and maybe even counter for emotional distress. Izzy should have to pay for what she put you through.”
Samantha wasn’t an expert in legal matters, but she had heard about cases where the losing side was forced to
cover legal fees. If their case was solid, then Izzy wouldn't just have to pay damages-she’d have to pay for their
lawyer too.
Just the thought of having that paycheck was enough to make Samantha's day. “Right, | also received some
emails from ssmaller news outlets. If we can do an interview... do you think the Rossi Group themselves
would intervene?”
Hearing this, Amalia immediately perked up. “The Rossi Group?” she muttered, crossing her arms.
She had heard about the company mostly from her sister, who worked in Rossi Group for a brief about of time.
The Rossi Group is a multimillion-dollar company. Izzy is the heir to Rossi Group and that means-
Amalia’s eyes flickered with interest. They would do everything to protect Izzy!
Before she could say anything, Monica’s phone suddenly rang.
She frowned and glanced at the screen. The nflashing across it made her stomach twist.
Izzy Rossi.
Samantha leaned forward. “Well, well. Look who's calling.”
Monica hesitated for half a second before answering and putting the call on speaker.

Samantha scoffed. “Wow. Do you have any shame?” she snapped. “You have the audacity to call Monica after
everything you did to her?”
Amalia smirked, already anticipating ssort of groveling from Izzy.
But then-1zzy chuckled.
The sound was light, almost amused. “Monica,” she said, ignoring Samantha entirely. “Why are you taking so
long to counterfile?”
Monica stiffened.
Samantha rolled her eyes. “Oh, don’t worry about that. We'll file soon enough.” She leaned in toward the phone.
“You sound scared. Afraid we might actually win?”
Izzy was silent for a moment. Then she spoke again, just as calm as before. “No, actually, | want you to hurry
up.”
Samantha blinked. “What?”
“So we can discuss a settlement,” Izzy said smoothly. “At the end of the day, we are family, after all.”
A slow grin spread across Samantha's face. She exchanged a quick glance with Amalia before letting out a short
laugh. “Oh, now you're talking about settling?” She sat back, crossing her legs. “I hate to break it to you, but
there’s nothing to settle.”
Monica stayed quiet, gripping her phone.
Samantha smirked. “We're not settling anything!”
