First Love 92
Chapter 92
Even so, Angela kept one thing in mind-she knew that Nora wouldn't let things slide so easily. They were bound
to find another excuse to stir up trouble, so she waited patiently.
She didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
"Ms. Graham, that gown cost two million dollars just to make. And yet you casually dismissed it? How am |
supposed to explain this to the company?”
Nora stood with her arms crossed, her expression blank but her voice loud enough for everyone to hear.
Angela remained calm, seated at her desk, reviewing the submitted design drafts. Occasionally, she paused to
give feedback.
“Nora, | hadn't planned on holding you accountable for this, but what are you doing now? Are you volunteering
to take the blame?" Angela glanced at her with faint amusement, her tone as light as a feather.
Over the past few days, Angela had already looked into everything she needed to know. She couldn't fathom why
Nora would still try to escalate things.
Nora froze, a fleeting panic flashing through her eyes. For a moment, she really thought Angela had uncovered

But that was impossible.
The employee who had damaged the gown had already been fired, and no one else knew what had happened
that day. How could Angela possibly know?

"I think you're just trying to shirk responsibility, Ms. Graham. Aren't you still the Bamfords
daughter-in-law? What, afraid your husband won't bail you out if this lands on you?" Nora's cold laugh dripped
with mockery.
Angela couldn't help but feel exasperated. Even insults had becso sophisticated these days. No vulgar
words were said, yet they were sharp enough to sting.
Luckily, she had money of her own, or she might've broken down on the spot.
“I'll give you one last chance. Apologize to me, and I'll let it go,” Angela said, closing her -laptop and raising an
eyebrow at Nora.
Her demeanor only made Nora more convinced she was bluffing. With a sneer, she rétorted, “You're hilarious. All
I'm asking is for you to pay up. Why all the theatrics?"
“Alright.” Angela's tone remained calm. "If you want to blow this up, I'll help you."
She turned to Clara. "Gather everyone."

Soon, dozens of people from the entire design department crowded around the office doorway, each one more
puzzled than the last.
The scene made Nora falter for a moment, a flicker of unease flashing through her. But she had already come
this far. Even if she felt a twinge of guilt, she had no choice but to carry

"Don't think calling everyone here will intimidate me. This is your fault, and you should take responsibility," Nora
said through gritted teeth, her glare burning with hatred. "What's going on, Ms. Graham?” Clara asked, voicing
the question on everyone's mind.
“Nora claims I lost a company gown and wantsto pay for it," Angela stated plainly. “I can explain. When |
wore the gown to the hotel, there was already a tear in the back. I had no choice but to change into something
else. | left the gown in my car trunk."
"I'll go get it!" Alan volunteered eagerly.
Nora's heart sank. Didn't Angela just say she had thrown the gown away? How was it suddenly in her car?

Alan returned quickly with the gown in hand, displaying it for everyone to see. The tear in the back was evident.
“Angela, | was the one who handed you the gown..." Clara spoke hesitantly, her face full of confusion.
“Hah!” Nora scoffed. “Then you can both pay for it. What a joke. A perfectly fine gown gets damaged in your
hands, and you dare play innocent? | didn't realize you were the type to put on a front while scheming behind
the scenes."
Clara's face turned pale, but she ignored Nora and hurriedly explained to Angela, “Angela, it was fine when |
handed it over. | don't know how this happened..."
"It's not your fault,” Angela interrupted, her voice firm. "This was Nora's doing. She wanted to humiliateand
tarnish the company's reputation."
