Chapter 840: Catch Dorothy Russell and Find Out If She's Human or Ghost On the other side.
After leaving the courthouse, Tina and Jared joined the others to capture Dorothy Russell.
On the way, Tina suddenly made a call to Wraith, instructing him to conduct a paternity test between Ruud and herself. The research institute still had her DNA samples saved from when she had been searching for her biological father. In truth, Tina already had an idea about whether Ruud was her father. She just wanted confirmation. She wanted to be certain that he wasn't.
To her, Ruud was like a natural enemy.
She simply couldn't stand him! After sending the message, the car stopped outside the Langdon family estate.
Hayden glanced at the tracker on his laptop and then looked up. "Langdon family? Serena, is Dorothy Russell hiding in the Langdon family estate?" But they'd already investigated the Langdon family thoroughly and found no trace of Dorothy Russell! Tina was still waiting for Wraith's reply when she heard Hayden's question. She put away her phone, opened the car door, and said, "Does it matter if she's in the Langdon family or not? The Bailey family is going down, and the Langdon family will follow. Of the hidden family's four great houses, only two will remain. Once we find that woman in red, won't everything beceasier?" Hayden froze for a moment. "Take down the Langdon family? But... the Langdon family is under government protection. If we make a move, how will we explain it later?" Tina shot him a look-a look reserved for idiots.
Jared didn't even bother glancing at Hayden. Having such a clueless teammate made him feel like his own intelligence might drop, and he was worried his wife might start disliking him because of it.
Even Nathan gave Hayden that s"idiot" look, though he kindly explained, "Hayden, why do you think the higher-ups wanted Mr. Farrell and Tina to reorganize the security bureau?" Hayden rolled his eyes. "What else could it be for? Obviously, it's to break the hidden family's balance!" He couldn't stand the way Nathan looked at him.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIf it were Jared and Tina, fine-they were both geniuses. But Nathan? They were on the slevel! Who gave him the right to act superior? "Hah!" Nathan chuckled twice, then ignored him. Instead, he raised his hand, signaling his men to follow as he walked into the Langdon family estate with Jared and Tina. Hayden stood there, fuming. "Smug little..." Inside the Langdon family estate.
Carl had been monitoring the court proceedings since morning.
When Tina started calling up witnesses one by one, he knew the Bailey family was done for.
He had been preparing to send someone to take care of Victor when he suddenly saw Ruud appear on the livestream.
General Praevion himself had stepped in to protect Victor? Victor had hidden it well. Carl had almost been fooled! Realizing this, he immediately recalled the people he had sent out.
Luckily, he'd been keeping an eye on the livestream today. Otherwise, if he had offended Ruud because of Victor, the consequences would've been disastrous.
He continued watching the livestream. After Ruud arrived, the judge left, Ruud exchanged a few words with Tina, then turned and walked away. Shortly after, the livestream cut off.
Because of this, Carl hadn't realized Ruud hadn't taken Victor or Luke Gill with him.
Now, seated in his chair, Carl was deep in thought.
Things were no longer going according to plan.
The Bailey family spiraling out of control and Ruud's sudden appearance felt highly unusual.
What puzzled Carl most was why his father had previously instructed him to eliminate the Bailey family once they lost the case.
It wasn't that Carl was softhearted. He simply felt that even if the Bailey family lost, it wouldn't be a big deal. Given the government's tolerance for the hidden families, the Bailey family might at most have to pay sfines. From Carl's perspective, the Bailey family was still useful.
So when his father had told him to take care of the Bailey family, he had agreed verbally but hadn't acted on it. But after watching the livestream today and seeing the Bailey family lose, he'd started feeling inexplicably uneasy and had an uncontrollable urge to deal with Ozan Bailey.
If Ruud hadn't shown up, Ozan Bailey might already be dead by now.
Victor's fate didn't matter much to him. What worried Carl was the nature of Victor's relationship with Ruud.
The public only knew Ruud as General Praevion, but they didn't realize his role was to suppress the hidden families.
As Carl was lost in thought, a servant rushed in, panic-stricken. "Young Master, something terrible has happened! Tina has surrounded the Langdon family estate!" Carl stood up abruptly, his face full of shock. "What?" He thought he must have misheard.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmTina was surrounding the Langdon family estate? Was she insane? Did she think the Langdon family estate was the kind of place she could just surround as she pleased? "It's true!" the servant confirmed. "She's with Jared, and they've brought a lot of people. Inside and out, the estate is completely surrounded. They've already started arresting people, and many of our family members have been taken away." Carl's face turned dark as steel. "Good! Very good! I'd like to see what gives her the nerve to act so recklessly in my home!" With that, he stormed outside.
The moment he stepped out, he saw Tina and Jared standing at the front gates while armed personnel arrested members of the Langdon family left and right.
Carl roared in fury, "Tina! Jared! How dare you arrest people in the Langdon family estate!" Tina and Jared merely glanced at him, not even bothering to respond.
Tina then looked at Nathan.
Nathan understood and stepped forward, pulling out an arrest warrant. His expression was stern as hem spoke. "By order of the authorities, the Langdon family is suspected of endangering government security. Effective immediately, all members of the Langdon family are to be taken into custody for investigation!" Carl glanced at the arrest warrant. As the heir to the Langdon family, he recognized it as an official order from the government's special bureau. His brows furrowed. "Nonsense! When has the Langdon family ever endangered government security?" That the Langdon family had engaged in illegal activities, he wouldn't deny.
Over the years, the Langdon family had used underhanded methods to amass wealth. As the leading house of the hidden families, most of the f the hidden hidden families worked to gather wealth for the Langdon family, including the Bailey family. But all of this was known to the higher-ups, who always turned a blind eye. To claim the Langdon family was endangering government security? Carl couldn't accept that! The hidden families were powerful, with deep roots, but no single family was foolish enough to challenge the government.
The Langdon family wasn't reckless enough to endanger government security.
"You'll find out soon enough," Nathan Yorders said coldly, putting away the warrant. He smirked and gave orders to his men. "Search every corner thoroughly. Don't miss a single place, especially the underground tunnels. Leave no stone unturned. And don't forget-Dorothy Russell must be found!" Carl's frown deepened. "Who the hell is Dorothy Russell?" Nathan suddenly chuckled, his smile cryptic. "Whether she's human or ghost, you'll know once we catch her, Young Master Langdon."
