"I am going." Ramses stood fully dressed, ready to walk to the stadium with us for the seventh game.
"Ramses," I said.
"No. I'm fine. My shoulder doesn't hurt, I'm a little stiff, but it won't stop me. It's better we useat eighty percent than we are a wolf short," he insisted. I was about to order him back to bed when Amie put her hand on my arm and stepped in between us.
"Ramses, we are just worried about the long recovery. You are needed here. Your contribution to the games has been undeniable. Just remember that in ten days we will be going home. We need you just as much back home, if not more.
Should we risk your health for the rest of your life?" Amie asked.
"I promise you, Beta, I can do this. I know my body and it will be able to handle this." Amie sighed.
"How about you cwith us and when we hear what the gis, we decide if you sit it out or not?" she suggested.
"Yes," he agreed. She looked at me. I nodded. It seemed like a good compromise. If we were lucky it would be a gwhere we would need to use our brains. We all headed towards the stadium and took our seats. My brother's group was one man short. His Beta was no were to be seen and I relaxed a little.
"It's tfor the next game. It will be played by all packs at once. It's a scavenger hunt taking place in the arena. Each member of your team will need to bring an object to the guards manning the main gate. If the object matches the secret criteria, the wolf will be free to leave. If an object has been used and accepted, it can't be used again. You will have two hours to get as many of your pack members out of the stadium as possible. We will not tell you the criteria for the object, you will have to figure that out by using deduction. Good luck. Your tstarts now," the speaker's voice told us. We all jumped up. There were people already heading for the main gate. We all tried to see what they were presenting to the guards.
'The flag got denied,' Sam said.
'As did the apple and the bottle,' Amie said.
"Oh, she got through,' Jake excitedly pointed out.
'Did you see what she gave them?' I asked.
'It looked like a spoon.' 'Someone tried a fork and it was denied,' Ramses said.
'This will be tricky. We need to start to collect things,' I said.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"We need to keep an eye on the items that have been passed. We need to narrow down what we are looking for,' Sam told us.
'No one is left alone,' I reminded them.
'That is not the best tactic. If we split up in two teams we will immobilise at least two people who can't move around as we need to watch the entrance,' Jake said.
'I would rather do that than see someone else get hurt,' I told him.
'I can stay by the exit. There are lots of guards there, no one will dare attack me,' he insisted. I looked at Amie for help.
'I think he has a point,' she said.
'I hate it, but I agree,' Sam told me. Ramses nodded.
'Fine. Ramses and Sam, you go to the south end and start looking for things you might think will do the trick. Amie and I will escort Jake as close to the exit as we can get and then go to the north end,' I agreed. 'Keep reporting back to us what works and what doesn't,' I told Jake as we walked him to take his position.
'Yes, Alpha.' I scoffed. They all forgot to callAlpha when they opposed my plan, but remembered as soon as I gave in.
Secretly I liked it. I liked that my pack members had respect for me, but didn't fearand dared to tellwhen they thought I was wrong. After dropping Jake off, Amie and I started searching the stadium. It was hard when we had no clue what we were looking for.
'A sweatshirt was denied, as was a t-shirt and rose. A peeler was let through as was an ice cream,' Jake reported.
'Kitchen things?' Sam asked.
'No, the fork was turned down,' Amie reminded him.
'There doesn't seem to be any packs who have figured it out. Everyone just shows up with random objects,' Jake told us. We continued to look for things, but the list Jake was giving us just made us more and more confused.
'What the fuck does a violin has in common with a potato?' Ramses growled in our mindlink. I understood his confusion and frustration.
'Oh, I think I got it,' Jake said. We were about an hour into the gand I prayed to the moon goddess he had figured it out. 'I was noting down the items that had let people leave on a piece of scrap paper I had with me,' he told us. I had to chuckle, it was just so Jake.
'What did you find?' Amie asked.

'All the items have two vowels that are the same. They don't need to be right after each other, or even in the sword, as long as both are part of the nfor the object. Like potatoe has two O's, and ice cream has two E's.' He read through his list and it seemed to be correct.
'Jake, my man, you are a genius!' Sam exclaimed.
'Let's find items that have two of the svowels. Once you found something, mindlink to Jake and he will check on his list to make sure it hasn't been used,' I told them.
'I have popcorn,' Sam announced.
'Not taken,' Jake said.
'I have a mushroom,' Ramses told us.
'How did... You know what, never mind,' I said.
'Not used,' Jake added.
'Necklace,' Amie said.
'Not used.' 'Two to go,' I told them. We searched the stadium. Suddenly, Amie stopped and smiled. She pointed at something. I sighed, just my luck.
'Condoms,' I linked as I picked up the package of condoms that lay on top of a power box.
'Not taken,' Jake letknow.
"At least they are extra large," I said to Amie. She giggled.
'Jake, do you have more scrap pieces of paper?' she asked him.

Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm'No. But take out the biggest one and when you give it to the warrior, tell them it's a sheet of paper,' she told him.
"Brilliant," I said. We all started to move towards the exit.
'Fin,' Amie mindlinkedwhen we got close and I heard the worry in her voice. I followed her gaze and saw a warrior from my brother's pack try to sneak up on Jake. I felt my blood boil with anger. Had they no shame? How desperate were
they to be pulling something like it so close to a group of council guards? I couldn't hurt him. He had done m nothing wrong, yet. And I refused to wait for him to harm one of my pack members just to get the satisfaction of dealing with the situation like I wanted to. "Jake! Jake, over here!" Amie called out and threw one hand in the air and waved. Almost everyone around us turned to look at either Amie or at Jake who awkwardly waved back at her. Since everyone was communicating via mindlink except for the one presenting items to the warriors, her outburst stood out. Goddess I loved that woman. All the attention made it impossible for the warrior to do anything to Jake and he slunk away into the crowd.
Sam and Ramses soon caught up with us.
'Let's do this,' I said. Ramses went first.
"Mushroom," he told the warrior. The warrior took it and nodded and let him pass.
"Popcorn," Sam said. Another nod and he walked out.
"Sheet of paper," Jake said. As he passed the warrior as well, I nudged Amie. I would not let her be left alone on the inside if something didn't work. She walked forward while doing something at the base of her neck.
"Necklace," she said, holding out the I necklace I had got her for hero m birthday I grinned. The warrior nodded. "Would you be so kind as to give it back?" she asked.
"Oh, sure," he said and handed it back to her. She walked past the control and it was my turn.
"Condoms," I said and handed the warrior in front ofthe package. He did his best not to laugh as he gestured forto walk past him. I should have made Sam trade items with me.
"Do you want to keep them?" the warrior called afterjust ignored med him. Even if I could have use for them, I wouldn't use condoms I found laying around and I had a small piece of self worth left.
"Don't sulk. We all made it out," Amie toldas I joined the other.
"With half an hour to spare," Sam said. I had to smile. "That is good news. Let's find the others." mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliIofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1
