Chapter 1752 When Karina was a child, Mr. and Mrs. Stone barely acknowledged her, and Kieran mostly treated her as a target for pranks. Back then, he was too young for the darker thoughts he would develop later. But even then, his behavior was hard to endure.

Speople didn't becawful as they grew up. They were terrible from the very beginning.

At the time, Kieran's pranks were relentless. Sometimes, he locked her outside on purpose. Other times, he "lost" her homework, leaving her unable to turn it in and getting her punished. Then, when she chome, Mr. Stone would scold her, calling her an embarrassment.

"They treated you like that?" Wilfred's voice was tight with anger.

Karina nodded slightly. "When I was a child, I didn't understand. It wasn't until I grew up that I realized it was because I wasn't their biological child." Wilfred scoffed coldly. "That's just an excuse. If they never planned to treat you well, why bother bringing you into their hin the first place?" Karina had no answer.

She found it strange too. For years, the question lingered in her mind. If the Stones didn't like her, why had they insisted on adopting her in the first place? Perhaps only they knew the real reason.

After her lengthy explanation, Wilfred rubbed his temples. Under the light, his pale face took on an almost porcelain-like quality, his long fingers clearly defined as he massaged his brows.

Karina's gaze lingered on his hands when, out of nowhere, Wilfred asked, "So, are you planning to keep entangling yourself with them? You're not their biological child. Have you ever thought about finding your real parents?" The question made Karina's eyelids twitch.

Wilfred noticed her reaction and thought, "She's considered it." He sat down, casually drumming his fingers on the desk. "Telleverything about what happened that day." Karina knew he was referring to the events leading up to Kieran's collapse. After a moment of reflection, she recounted the details as clearly as she could.

When she finished, Wilfred's frown deepened.

"You said he collapsed suddenly?" Karina nodded. The events of that day were still a blur in her mind. If she, as a direct witness, couldn't figure it out, how could anyone else? But Wilfred said with certainty, "It was caused by drugs. Your brother-or rather, Kieran-does he have any bad habits?" "You mean...?" Karina's eyes widened. "That's impossible. Kieran might be a scumbag, but there's no way he'd break the law!" "There's a sixty percent chance he's using drugs," Wilfred replied calmly.

Wilfred was once a healer and had a sharp sensitivity to anything drug-related. It was this expertise that led him to pursue a career as a doctor, an area where he excelled.

Before coming to see Karina, he had already reviewed the security footage.

"The symptoms match a bad reaction to excessive use. Based on what you said, the money he spends without explanation likely goes toward this habit." Wilfred's steady analysis made it hard not to believe him.

Karina's mind raced as she recalled past events. She murmured, "Now that I think about it, he's always askingfor money. His parents retirement savings, along with what they'd managed to save, used to it's amount to something all disappeared without a trace."

As the pieces began to fall into place, everything suddenly becclear.

Karina shot to her feet. "So, he's been using my money to buy that stuff?"

She trembled with rage, unable to contain her fury. The money she had worked so hard to earn had been wasted on drugs. What was the point of all her hard work if it had been for this?
