Chapter 76

Brian spoke with a subdued tone. “Even if you have nothing to do with this incident tonight, do you dare to say

you had no ulterior motives toward me?”

“I do though I've been hoping that you'll die sooner,” Ariana mocked, finding Brian immature. Then, she pushed

him off her and got up from the bed.

Brian voiced, “If you go out there now, Grandina will know we were pretending to be intimate. She might arrange

for another situation like this again if her plan fails this time.”

“What are you suggesting, Mr. Lodge? Do you wantto stay the night in your room? That doesn’t seem wise,

does it?” Although Ariana said that, she didn’t seem like she would leave the room at all.

In truth, she knew Brian was right. Belinda would realize the truth if she left the room now. If that happened,

their little pretense earlier would be for nothing.

At that moment, Brian lightly patted the side of his bed and said, “Chere.”

Surprisingly, Ariana complied and approached him as told

Just when Brian thought Ariana would obediently sleep beside him, Ariana suddenly grinned at him. She yanked

the blanket off Brian, took his pillow, and left.

Every muscle on Brian's face stiffened.

Ariana stated, “Thanks, Mr. Lodge. Your room’s massive, so I'll just make myself comfortable on the floor.”

Then, she placed the blanket on the ground.

Brian was livid when he saw Ariana was serious about sleeping on the ground. “Ariana, how could y

“Goodnight.” Ariana cut him off before switching off the red LED lights all over the room.

Only a dim, red desk lamp remained lit in the room.

The situation left Brian so suffocated that he nearly freaked out. He had always refused Ariana whenever she

threw herself at him. Yet, Ariana was surprisingly turning him down now that he was offering her a chance to

share his bed.

“Fine then! She can forget about getting this chance ever again!” Brian thought as he shut off the last light in the

room.

Francine was in the backyard downstairs when she saw all the lights in Brian's room were off. She ran to inform

Belinda about it.

A relieved expression shrouded Belinda’s face as she said, “Invite Ms. Granger over first thing tomorrow.”

Francine knew right away what Belinda was up to. She nodded, saying, “Understood, Mrs. Lodge Senior.”

Ariana blearily cracked her eyes open the next morning.

Yet, she realized the hard floorboard beneath her had somehow turned soft. That was when she realized she was

lying on the bed, and there wasn’t a trace of Brian beside her.

Where had he gone? Ariana sat upright while wondering that.

Chapter 76

Just then, Brian exited the bathroom, his hair still wet, and he donned a loose black robe.

Ariana glanced at the clock and saw it was only 7:00 am. “You're up early, Mr. Lodge.”

Based on her memory, Brian usually awoke at around 8:30 am.

“I wasn’t tired.” Although Brian claimed that was the case, the truth was he couldn't sleep all night. So, he was

already up before sunrise to take a cold shower.

Ariana frowned, asking, “Did you carryonto the bed?”

All warmth left Brian's face. “No, you cto the bed on your own.”

That rendered Ariana speechless. She couldn't be bothered to argue with Brian, so she got up from the bed. Her

back was killing her after spending the night on the floor. “Getspajamas.”

Brian's eyes narrowed when she straightforwardly demanded pajamas. “Where would | get pajamas for you?

“Do you intend on makingleave this room in this outfit, then, Mr. Lodge?”
